Residents of Alice Springs in Australia have been warned something dangerous may be lurking down their toilet. According to the Alice Springs Reptile Centre, the number of deadly snakes hiding in toilets in the town has skyrocketed recently. In one week alone snake catchers had to remove three snakes from toilets and two from bedrooms. Many of the reptiles recovered are Western Brown snakes, which are one of the deadliest in the world. Reptile Centre Director Rex Neindorf has urged residents to be vigilant and check their toilets before sitting down. He said: “Everything stems from 2010 from all the rain. You had all the insects, then the mice and then the snakes. So it’s plague upon plague upon plague.” Picture: Chloe Geraghty/Newspix / Rex Features
